Around seven years ago, I met a teenager named Julia who was helping me in the church nursery, and I also met Mark, the new youth pastor, who dropped his baby off to our care. This weekend, Mark officiated at the wedding of Julia and Kyle.

I’ve been privileged to take Julia’s picture in her prom gown, her senior pictures, family pictures on two occasions, and now wedding photos. My usual photog assistant had other commitments, so I roped Mark, also a photographer, into helping me with the lights for the sunset photos. He, in turn, recruited another photographer guest, Alex, who used his height to full advantage as the key grip.

There was no shortage of capable photographers at the wedding, which is good, because there was plenty to photograph. Julia and Kyle look like runway models, and the Marmalade Lily flower farm and event venue provides such charming settings and gorgeous florals sourced right from their own gardens.

Julia was the ideal bride to work with, very organized and prepared, but also very adaptable to going with the flow, as were both of Julia and Kyle’s families. From the speeches and toasts given by the members of the wedding party and family, it was clear that there were many people who loved Julia and Kyle dearly and they were blessed to be starting their lives together.
