Ally is a captain in her school’s highly decorated color guard and devotes hours a day to practice, even on days when she doesn’t have group practice with the band. This discipline makes her exceptionally good at her craft. She often gets risky solo moves, such as a high rifle toss when the whole auditorium is focused on her. She also has frequent solos playing the oboe for her school’s acclaimed wind symphony. This is a testament to both her hard-earned skill and her mental fortitude at performance time. I had no doubt that she would be able to take beautiful pictures literally at the break of dawn, and of course, she came through.

About the Author: Nancy Riley
I love to create images that are beautiful, unusual, or make you look at things in a different way. I am primarily a people photographer, but also love the process of discovery in nature and fine art photography. I have taught photography online, mainly because I would talk anyone's ear off about f-stops, and now shoot portraits, sports, and events in the Cincinnati area.
