This is the third aspiring chemical engineer I’ve photographed this month, which makes me feel quite lucky. This young lady is also multi-talented. In addition to being academically gifted, she is a pianist, swimmer, dancer, artist, and bookworm.
Chloe’s piano teacher, Grace, was very gracious in letting us use her studio to take photos of Chloe at the instrument. I was so happy to see Grace for the first time in several years and hear how her own lovely daughters were doing. Chloe plays beautifully and it was a joy to hear her play as I photographed her.
Then we were off to nearby Glenwood Gardens. Here I have to give out a shout out to Deb, Chloe’s mom. She was carrying at least three sturdy grocery bags of stuff all over the park. Some clothes, but mostly books. So many books. Because what if we ran out of books? And then Deb stretched her 5 foot 2 frame to hold the lights overhead for Chloe, who fortunately inherited her mother’s petite stature.
Chloe hasn’t taken ballet in several years, but still moves beautifully to show off a blue dress made for dancing. The dress was absolutely perfect for her, but she was still happy to change into her casual outfit at sunset and show off her other talent–balancing books on her head. The stack was getting taller and taller, and she had to balance it for a long time, since I was struggling to land my focus in the increasing darkness. I called it quits on account of the disappearing light, or who knows how high she would have been able to build the tower? Especially since Deb was dragging around her body weight in books.
Chloe, I wish you a wonderful rest of your senior year!
