We do senior pictures in December for a variety of reasons. Often it’s because students have so many commitments during the school year that they don’t get a chance to breathe until the holidays. Sometimes we are waiting for braces to come off. In this case, it was a combination of the above, and the fact that Braden was born around Christmas, so we wanted to get some pictures with Christmas lights.
I say “we,” meaning his mother and I. Braden wasn’t heavily invested in the decision making that went into his session, but he was dutifully complying to make everyone happy. And he was rewarded for his good-natured efforts by a beautiful day with temperatures in the mid-50s the day after Christmas.
We spent some time at Smale Park, then walked over the Roebling Bridge to Covington, where we hoped to find some holiday decorations and lights. We were fortunate to find a series of townhomes festooned with lights and garlands. We took pictures in the lovely historic district, then returned to the river bank when the sun was setting.
I didn’t find out until the very end of the session that his mom was toting his soccer cleats and a ball along. We spent the last five minutes of his session paying tribute to his soccer days.
Brandon has such a great smile and easy-going personality that made him a pleasure to photograph. And now he can check one more thing off his list and get down to enjoying the rest of his well-deserved holiday!
