I would guess roughly half of my senior guys are reluctant to have their portraits done, but do it out of respect for others. Eli is so easygoing and polite, I really couldn’t tell which camp he belonged in.
He has the disciplined posture that four years of marching band will give you, so I never needed to tell him to stand tall. He also has remarkably blue eyes, when you manage to get one with his eyes open, because it turns out that Eli is an incorrigible blinker.
Downtown Loveland is full of activity on a weekend evening. People are strolling, dining, and enjoying the trail and park. They are also so used to seeing portraits done in their picturesque neighborhood that no one looked twice, even with the flash in a box on a pole. Said pole was being manned by his intrepid mother, Sarah, who learned lighting in record time so she could adjust her position and the pole height without being told whenever I had Eli turn his head or raise his trombone.
Eli was quick to pick up on directions and nonverbal cues. His versatility will serve him well, since he is still mulling over career choices ranging from finance to physical therapy. I suppose he’ll decide if he wants to wear suits or scrubs every day!
