Harry has been busy this semester. Until last month, his life was consumed by marching band, college applications, and other school commitments, so it is just now that he is starting to catch up with other senior responsibilities, such as, um, having his picture taken for posterity. When we scheduled this session for late December, I was a little worried. I knew I could bundle up and be comfortable, because I wasn’t having my picture taken, but I wondered how Harry would do. As it turned out, the weather was actually pretty comfortable, with the sun out, no wind, and 46 degrees F.

Even if the weather hadn’t been as pleasant, I think that Harry would have adapted. He has an easy-going, accommodating personality, and was pretty much up for anything I asked him to do. Even though he has a friendly, down-to-earth personality, he actually does the sophisticated, man-of-the-world expression quite well, so we able to get different looks.

His dad was trying to stay out of our way and let Harry have a little space, but I pressed him into service early on. He served as valet, stylist, and voice-activated light stand. That meant he was responsible for holding the flash high off the camera and directing it where I needed it. His mother showed tremendous trust and restraint and just met us at the beginning and end of the session. I will say that Harry did a fantastic job both with and without his parents in earshot, so theoretically, that should encourage me not to hover over my kids. But they shouldn’t count on that happening any time soon. Just saying.

So congratulations to Harry for getting to cross another thing off of his senior to-do list, and for having done it quite well. Hopefully he can get a well-deserved rest!
