The first picture after the cover photo is a throw back picture because it tells you a lot about this particular individual. I took this picture of Henry two years ago when he was a sophomore rehearsing with the marching band for their big national competition. This was just a routine drill, not even close to the final performance run-through. But Henry was fully committed to giving it his all on every repetition, which makes him one of the most engaging performers to watch, although it would push him to exhaustion.
In less than two weeks, he will perform at the same national competition, this time as a senior. He has a solo where he carries the melody for almost a full verse of a song. Despite the spotlight, he doesn’t feel especially nervous, although he is still just as committed to putting on a good show. He plans to pursue a future in music performance and education where he can put his discipline and dedication in rehearsal to good use.
