Normally, I’m all about the eyes in my portraits, but two of my favorite pictures from Henry’s session don’t even include his handsome face.

Henry is a drum major for Mason’s marching band, a formidable tuba player, an Eagle Scout, and the organizer of Mason’s chapter of United Sound, a program that allows students with diverse abilities to play music, mentored by other students. He loves all kinds of music, from classical to country, and punctuates the latter by owning a truck and a very patriotic pair of cowboy boots.

We scheduled his session in June instead of July or August, hoping for cooler weather, but the heat index for his session was at 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Although I didn’t hear a word of complaint when he was wearing his suit, he was probably relieved to change into short sleeves. We did a brief tour of Pine Hill Lakes and downtown Mason, then finished up at the stadium at Mason High School. Well, technically, we finished up in the parking lot, since we decided to get some last minute pictures with his beloved red pickup.

Fortunately, we had nice color in the sky, his parents were both handy with holding the soft box, and Henry is a long-endurance smiler. Well done, Henry, and I look forward to watching you lead the field in your senior year!
