I am a planner. If I haven’t been to a place I haven’t shot before, or I haven’t gone recently, I will often try to get there on an earlier day, or at least go a half hour early to look for possibilities.
The challenges are that sometimes it’s not possible to go at the same time of day as I plan to shoot, or even in the same month. In an outdoor setting, that can make a big difference. Imagination to compensate for different light and different vegetation is important.
I took many photos last spring when I was planning a shoot at Glenwood Gardens. We actually changed the location of the original shoot, but I still had a lot of possibilities in my head, so I used my photos to help me prepare for another shoot two months later.
You can see how different lighting, the addition of a lovely subject, and the abundance of greenery makes a huge difference.
I’m looking over these photos again because I have another session planned at Glenwood Gardens soon. In fact, it’s with the same young lady that I originally did the location scouting for. We’re planning on shooting at two locations, and I’ve done some scouting for the other place as well.
Anyone recognize where this is?
