I did what any red-blooded photographer would do when the parking lot I wanted to use for senior photos was barricaded. I stalked the nearest substitute lot until I saw a truck put its lights on, then raced on foot to claim the spot as soon as I saw it pull out. Then I exercised squatter’s rights over the next three cars that had hopes of parking there until my clients were able to move their car around the block. So Charlie might have more car pictures than my usual set of photos, since I risked getting flattened to secure the location!
Charlie is a city kind of guy. He is also a cars kind of guy. We picked the Kentucky side of the river to do his pictures because we wanted to get the Cincinnati skyline in the background.
Since Charlie is one of the trumpet section leaders in marching band, we obviously needed to get a lot of trumpet shots as well. They are so much easier to carry along on a session than a sousaphone or tuba.
Most seniors feel a little stiff in their dress clothes, but Charlie wore them with elegant ease. By then, he had gotten used to the posing and the lights and could project the unruffled sophistication I wanted from him. Either that, or his retinas were too burned from all the flashes, and he couldn’t see me anymore. Either way, it worked for him, and he looked great!
