Chad and Sheila are busy professionals with two of the most adorable little girls you could hope to meet. When I look at their pictures, I feel a mixture of joy, wistfulness, and a bit of exhaustion, remembering what life was like at that stage in a young family. The baby was as content and happy as one could have hoped, but was still typically distracted by wanting to hug the family dog or eat autumn leaves like potato chips. The older girl was also charming, but formed an instant infatuation with a particularly fine stick on the ground. Her face fluctuated constantly between delight and grievous injury depending on whether permission was granted to brandish her stick or roll down the hill in her white sweater dress (spoiler: she did plenty of both).

Fortunately, the girls seem to take after their musical mother, and could be momentarily distracted by my assistant son playing Baby Shark and assorted tunes on the ukulele. Chad and Sheila are easy and comfortable whether or not they are in front of the camera, but as in past years, Gizmo still walked away with the MVP trophy, managing to maintain alert composure and dignity at all times amidst the family chaos.

Hopefully, in a few years, Chad and Sheila will look back on these pictures and agree with me that all the exhaustion is completely worth it!
