When I first started photographing Chris and Sandra’s family, their youngest, Sadie, was only about ten, and their eldest, Cayla, was sweet sixteen. Cayla would bury herself in a book at family parties while Sadie threw a football with her cousins. Cayla still loves books, but Sadie’s cousins grew up to play high school football, and I think that if one of their footballs made contact now, it would probably flatten her. Now Sadie is starting her senior year and Cayla is a epidemiology researcher and fashion influencer. Was “influencer” even a thing seven years ago?

Chris and Sandra are still as charming and photogenic as ever. They definitely passed their camera-friendly genes to their daughters, although the girls react to the camera differently. Cayla is at home in front of a lens and used to trying out different poses and attitudes for her social media following. Sadie’s range is more like happy to even happier. We attempted thoughtful with Sadie once or twice, which just made her giggle, so we weren’t even going to attempt hauteur. Not that I minded. The fact that Sadie is still very much the unpretentious, unaffected girl she was at age ten makes me very happy. Both girls are still as sweet as ever, and their parents are rightfully proud of them.
