Even when it is raining, Landon is perpetually cheerful. His senior session was threatened from the start by heavy clouds and rumbling thunder, then interrupted by a half-hour of showers. But true to form, he didn’t let the weather dampen his spirit. We kept the pictures going, sometimes under the cover of branches and the picnic shelter roof when the rain was heavier.
Things were clearing up when we got to the stadium, at least weather-wise. We knew there were no official sporting events scheduled on the field, but apparently an informal soccer club likes to meet on Saturday night. I realized I was turning into my father as I interrupted their play to ask them if we could have the middle of the field for two minutes to grab a picture as the sun was disappearing. They were very gracious and even moved the orange cones for us as they took a water break.
Landon is musically talented, playing his clarinet in the top band at school and the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble, but professionally, he’s thinking about a STEM career, possibly engineering. Given his positive outlook and many gifts, I am sure he adapt well to any path he chooses!
