The last time I took pictures for this family was four years ago. I really don’t think they’ve changed much, including their little girl, who still looks like a collector’s doll.

We chose to do the session in Lebanon because of the variety of rustic and historical backdrops. I was very disappointed to find that my favorite rustic wall had been pried off the building and was lying in a parking lot, replaced by generic siding. Another favorite weathered spot had been updated with fresh paint and lost its character. But there were still plenty of places to take pictures.

I always feel a need to put a disclaimer whenever I take pictures on or near trains or train tracks. Trains and train tracks are private property. They are also dangerous if the tracks are active. Trains cannot stop for photographers or for their clients. Always ask for permission and always know if the trains are running. End of public service announcement.

We were also happy to see that they haven’t completely stripped the little town of all its aging charm. By the end of the session, Dad was helping us spot weathered walls and wood, even though he knew it would only prolong the time he had to pose. Way to take one for the team, Dad!

We had way more pictures that I could fit in one post, but I restrained myself. I have to leave some surprises for the family.

Hopefully Lebanon won’t fix up any more of my favorite spots before I come back!
