Hebrew law granted freedom to Hebrew slaves and the restoration of land to its original family every fifty years in the Year of Jubilee. Today the word is used to mean an especially important celebration, such as a 50th year anniversary, that deserves particular recognition.

This young lady, named Jubilee, deserves celebration as she approaches the end of her senior year.

She brought her violin, made in France in the 1800s, as she is going to study music in college. I am particularly gratified when rare and beautiful instruments are well-matched to the skill and heart of the owners.

She asked if I wanted her to play the violin or just to hold it. Naturally, I wasn’t going to give up the opportunity for a concert in the woods. I made her play it. A lot.

I may have made her play a little longer than was strictly necessary for taking pictures. Her music was beautiful. But I’ll bet you already guessed that.

Congratulations, Jubilee on your upcoming graduation, and may you continue to touch people with your gift of music and your fresh, unpretentious spirit!
