Maddie’s younger sister Bree was actually the one who initiated scheduling the photo session. Bree is a good friend of my son’s and knew that the prime fall dates would be booked really quickly, so she took it upon herself to make sure her older sister was taken care of. Then she came along to be a helping hand with fixing the inevitable stray hairs and smoothing any wrinkles that popped up when I posed Maddie. Both parents came along, but tried to remain in the background most of the time. Even so, Dad was accused more than once of making Maddie laugh. As far as I could tell, he was just standing there, but my back was turned most of the time, so it is possible he was doing something other than just breathing and existing. Dads can be tricky that way.

Of course, we had to get Maddie’s picture with both Bree and her parents. They are all particularly good-looking, but we avoided getting a “family picture” because there are two other kids who weren’t there, and we wouldn’t want to make them feel left out.

Maddie is an intelligent, well-mannered, and considerate young lady who is trying to stay on top of the college application process and her classes. She was also tough, as she walked the trail in her sandals without complaining and balanced on logs and tree trunks to suit my fancy. Even though it was well past dinnertime and her feet probably hurt, she remained sweet and pleasant to not only me, but to her sister and parents, which was just a testament to the strong family bond that was evident.

Best of luck to Maddie as she finishes out her senior year!
