Alicia and Stephen were married on a damp November day, and although the occasion was joyful, they didn’t get the opportunity to take a lot of pictures outdoors. The lovely thing about doing an after-the-wedding pictorial is that you have the leisure of choosing the season, the hour, and the location without as many worries about fitting it into a busy wedding schedule or worrying about how many people a venue can hold. Alicia and Stephen could relax during their session and enjoy being together without giving any thought to how many people were waiting to receive them at the reception.

They chose Spring Grove Cemetery as the setting, with the beautiful Norman Chapel and many elegantly designed monuments. At first Alicia worried it might be disrespectful to those who were interred there. But Spring Grove regularly holds weddings, 5K runs, concerts, and even beer tastings. So Alicia overcame her reservations.

There were scattered thunderstorms during the session, but fortunately, there was a small portico at the Fleischman Temple. It was just big enough to fit all of us and even to take a few individual portraits of Stephen, Alicia, and their friend Sherry. If any of them had been of irritable temper, it could have been a miserable experience, vying for the driest spot under the overhang in formalwear.

Fortunately, Alicia and Stephen are still the best of friends after a year of marriage, and were able to laugh about their damp finery and their sodden wedding shoes. Hopefully their beautiful pictures will be worth it and they will view their soggy adventure as just another funny episode in their story together.
